Thousand-ton Crawler Crane of XCMG Performs Hoisting in Ocean Engineering

May 23, 2012

XCMG’s thousand-ton level Crawler Crane involves in ocean engineering again, creating Three New Records.
On May 15, XCMG’s thousand-ton level Crawler Crane again challenged the limit of hoisting in ocean engineering by competing with three other peers of DEMAG at Penglai of Shandong Province. The Chinese corporation has successfully finished the heavy-load walking, moving 800-ton structure part for about 60 meters onto the jacket more than 200 meters away, accomplishing one of the most difficult tasks in hoisting history. Mr. Yu Limin, board chairman of GST Group commended: This was an extremely hard hoisting work. Before that, we have tried all means, including gantry crane, pan car amid others, leading to failure eventually. And we eventually chose the plan of Four-crane Hoisting.
Record One: More than 200m parallel move by four cranes simultaneously
Prior to hoisting, the construction conTractors, after tests of multiple plans eventually adopted the Four-crane Hoisting, featuring XCMG’s thousand-ton Crawler Crane and DEMAG’s 1,250-ton crane positioned at front end with other two 500-ton cranes at rear. Amid soft sea breeze of 5 o’clock at dawn, hooks of four cranes started the collaborative task after the installation of 180-ton super-lift counterweight of XCMG’s thousand-ton crawler crane in a while. After the 800-ton structure part being lifted over 30m in height, four cranes performed heavy-load walk in comprehensive cooperation, and the subject has been successfully moved in front of the jacket in nearly 200m after four-hour performance. The whole process, featuring stability and high efficiency, demonstrated the unprecedented super lifting capability of XCMG’s thousand-ton level crawler crane.
Record Two: Hoisting 800-ton structure part for 100m in height
Upon successful movement in front of the jacket, XCMG’s thousand-ton crawler crane and DEMAG’s 1,250-ton crane, though perfect collaboration, lifted the heavy 800-ton structure part to the height of 100m by adopting the 90m super-lift main boom through coherent cooperation. Four cranes continued the heavy-load walk after reaching the due height, and the heavy subject moved slowly along the reserved small gap above the jacket for over an hour and was precisely connected to the jacket in high efficiency. The whole smooth and steady process comprehensively testifies the stationarity and micro-mobility of the thousand-ton level crawler crane of XCMG.
Record Three: Twice competition against DEMAG’s 1,250-ton crane
This successful hoisting work has been accomplished through the strong cooperation between XCMG’s thousand-ton level crawler crane and overseas brand of DEMAG’s 1,250-ton crane, marking a second time of XCMG’s product of this type cooperating with international counterpart, a new record of twice same-stage competition: synchronous lifting, collaborative operation and steady movement, since its initial hoisting in ocean engineering on April 17. Equaling the capability of DEMAG’s 1,250-ton crane, its prime product, the outstanding performance has witnessed the unparalleled hoisting capacity and construction adaptability of XCMG’s thousand-ton level crawler crane, laying an irreplaceable dominant position in the industry.
The second-time cooperation between XCMG’s thousand-ton level crawler crane and German 1,250-ton crane product proves XCMG’s equal power in the area of hoisting, said the operator of XCMG’s thousand-ton level crawler crane.
It is reported that the repeated marvelous performance of XCMG’s thousand-ton level crawler crane, since its entry into ocean engineering hoisting has consolidated its status quo of domestic equipment in the field of marine construction, expanding a broader space for the product development of Chinese crawler cranes.
