National development and reform commission: we will increase investment in key city clusters and intercity railways in metropolitan areas

The national development and reform commission has held a press conference. As for the direction of further development in the field of investment in 2020, spokesman meng wei said that the NDRC will play a leading role in guiding investment from the central government budget and focus on increasing investment in major strategies and projects.

According to meng, the NDRC will increase the planning and construction of key city clusters, intercity railways in metropolitan areas, urban (suburban) railways and high-grade roads, as well as the renovation of major water conservancy projects and old urban areas and supporting infrastructure in cities and towns. At the same time, relevant departments will speed up the implementation of the plan to promote the physical workload in 2020 as soon as possible.

In promoting urbanization, the national development and reform commission will make new progress in promoting high-quality development of new urbanization. First, we will promote urban household registration. The key is to make it easier for key groups, such as the rural migrant population, who have stable employment, to obtain permanent residence in cities and towns.

Second, we will make solid progress in the development of urban agglomerations and metropolitan areas. This year, we will vigorously promote the construction of the chengdu-chongqing double-city economic circle, promote the development of urban agglomerations in various regions, guide local governments in the planning and compilation of metropolitan areas, strive to improve the connectivity of transportation infrastructure in key metropolitan areas, and standardize the development of small towns with distinctive features.

Third, we will further enhance the capacity of cities for sustainable development, enhance their capacity for innovation-driven development and improve the efficiency of allocation of public resources, accelerate urban renewal, and strive to improve urban governance.

Fourth, we will accelerate the integrated development of urban and rural areas, and promote the flow of factors of production to rural areas, the diversified development of rural economies, and the interconnected development of urban and rural public facilities.

In 2020, the NDRC will focus on key areas and weak links such as industrial upgrading, poverty alleviation, infrastructure and people's livelihood, and make solid progress in implementing the key tasks of strengthening weak areas and stabilizing investment, meng said.

It is reported that in the whole of 2019, the national development and reform commission has approved 157 fixed asset investment projects, with a total investment of 1329.2 billion yuan.
