A “giant” rises up in the middle of the desert. With its 320 ton storage capacity and 260 t/h production rate, the newly commissioned TOP TOWER 3000 P batch mix asphalt plant delivered to United Gulf Construction (UGCC) for the refurbishment of road and interchanges on the existing 6th Ring Road, in Kuwait, is without any doubts well visible from far away thanks to its 30 meter height.

But looking beyond the structure, what really makes this plant totally unique in the Middle East, is its “heart”: the plant is fitted with a 4 ton Marini Asphalt Mixer, custom designed for RAP use, in order to allow the highest production level with elevated percentages of reclaimed asphalt.

United Gulf Construction, leading road builder in Kuwait and Marini customer since 1977, decided to invest in a new machine, not only for the excellent performance and reliability of their two existing Marini plants, but also due to their willingness to be the first company using extensive amounts of RAP in a road construction project in the Gulf : in this area the introduction of such a high-tech asphalt plant, although common and well-known elsewhere, may still be considered pioneering.

TOP TOWER 3000 P FOR RAP USEThis explains the need for a fully reliable partner, Marini, and the choice of such an advanced plant. Expertise and knowhow in recycling, with consequent accurate and effective support to the production activity, allow the customer to push the machine to its maximum performance. Besides the asphalt plant, UGCC also invested in an impressive binder storage system: 1,100 ton, 300 of which for modified bitumen, and 800 ton just for bitumen, with the capacity to feed independently and simultaneously the TOP TOWER 3000P 4T as well as the Marini modified bitumen plant type modiFALT20.TOP TOWER 3000 P + MODIFALT: WINNING COMBINATIONModiFALT plants have an excellent reputation in Kuwait: with more than a dozen units sold in the last two years in the country (including one to UGCC on a different installation), modiFALT plants, with their containerised bodies and production ranging from 15 to 40 ton/h, have become the first-rate system for PMB production. This confirms once more that Marini doesn’t only mean the cutting edge of asphalt plant technology, but also competence and technology in bitumen engineering.
