At Caterpillar, sustainability is who we are and what we do every single day. As part of our strategy, we are committed to providing products, services and solutions that make productive and efficient use of resources. We are continually improving performance of products to meet customer demand and make their operations more sustainable while also driving our industry to improve. A recent example of this is the world’s first Elevated Sprocket Electric Drive dozer, the Cat® D6 XE, introduced in 2019.
Caterpillar customers are steadily focused on improved energy efficiency and productivity on their worksites. Listening to the voice of the customer, we delivered just that with the D6 XE, offering up to 35% better fuel efficiency and up to 23% less fuel usage. Next-generation Electric Drive technology allows constant power to the ground, greater agility and faster cycle times which reduce overall maintenance costs. Increased D6 XE productivity along with the reduction in fuel cost means customers can expect to see payback of the added investment over a standard D6 in less than two years. [1]
Caterpillar is using technology to improve safety, efficiency and productivity to drive lower maintenance costs and environmental impact for our customers. With the factory installed technologies available on the D6 XE, customers can realize up to 50% more productivity through Cat® GRADE with Slope assist and Cat GRADE with 3D. These technologies allow operators to finish jobs in fewer passes with less effort maintaining speed, accuracy and flexibility. A completely redesigned cab offers not just added comfort for the operator but also increased safety and visibility.
Introduction of the new D6 XE in 2019 represents Caterpillar’s commitment to their goal of leveraging technology and innovation to improve sustainability of our products, services and solutions for our customers. Every product and service get us one step closer to fulfilling our purpose to help our customer build a better world.
