Sasac: we will quickly return to the track of stable development of normal production

August 05, 2020

The state council held a press conference this morning on the joint prevention and control mechanism for new coronavirus-infected pneumonia. Officials briefed sasac and central enterprises on the prevention and control of the epidemic.

Ren hongbin, deputy director of the state-owned assets supervision and administration commission and a member of the party committee, said that dealing with the outbreak of the new coronary pneumonia is not only a battle against epidemic resistance, but also an economic battle. Under the premise of doing a good job in epidemic prevention and control, the state-owned assets supervision and administration commission (sasac) made overall plans to guide the central enterprises to resume production in a safe and orderly manner by classification and batches, and quickly return to the track of stable development of normal production. Resumption of work and production is an important guarantee to effectively deal with the outbreak of new coronary pneumonia and keep the economy running smoothly. Sasac will not change the production and operation objectives and reform tasks set at the beginning of the year.

Ren hongbin, deputy director of sasac committee member: according to preliminary statistics, the operating rate of more than 20,000 major production-oriented sub-enterprises under the supervision of sasac has exceeded 80%. The other part did not start work mainly because some areas due to the severe epidemic situation, enterprises do not have the conditions to start work. Such industries as petroleum and petrochemical, communications, power grid, transportation and other industries have been operating at rates of more than 95 percent, and some have reached 100 percent. What I want to emphasize here is that many enterprises have been operating normally during the Spring Festival and in the fight against the epidemic. Their production and operation have never been interrupted, which has played an important role in the prevention and control of the epidemic and the stability of the economy.

Mr. Ren said the outbreak would not change the long-term fundamentals of China's economy. The epidemic did have an impact on production and management, but the impact on individual industries was relatively large. But as the disease subsides and eventually dies down, demand in these industries is bound to rebound and gradually return to normal.

Ren hongbin, deputy director of the state-owned assets supervision and administration commission (sasac), CPC committee member: we believe the impact of the epidemic is phased and temporary. General secretary xi jinping has said many times that China is a big country with strong resilience, great potential and great room for maneuver. The impact of the epidemic will not change the long-term fundamentals of China's economy.

Ren also said that sasac and central enterprises will be firm in their confidence and stick to their goals and tasks.

Ren hongbin, deputy director of the party committee of the state-owned assets supervision and administration commission (sasac) : we will not relax our goals, ensure that our tasks remain the same and our pressure will not be reduced. Of course, the challenges are enormous, and achieving our goals without changing them will require even greater effort.
