New SDLG compact excavator builds fish farm in Myanmar

When planning the development of one of Myanmar´s largest fish farms, AKZ Fishery and Rental selected the powerful SDLG LG690E compact Excavator – the first delivered in South East Asia.

The fish farm industry in Myanmar’s Delta region has seen output increase by an estimated 250% over the last decade. To keep up with rising demand in both domestic and overseas markets, companies such as AKZ Fishery and Rental are building increasingly bigger fish farms. And with that scaling up, companies are looking also to mechanization, rather than manual labor, for pond excavation works.

AKZ Fishery and Rental is one of the leading operators of fish farms in Myanmar and the company is currently working on what will be the biggest fish farm in the Irrawaddy Delta region. To help with this huge undertaking the company has purchased an SDLG LG690E compact Excavator – the first to be deployed in Southeast Asia.

KyawSwe, owner and managing director of AKZ Fishery and Rental, explained why he purchased the LG960E for this job.

“This SDLG compact Excavator is useful for our needs because it can maneuver the narrow access roads we have here and get the job done neatly, while still delivering the power we need.”

Aside from excavation work for the new fish pond, which will span five hectares, the LG690E will be used for pond maintenance works such as slope trimming and repair of bunkers. The machine is expected to be kept busy for up to eight hours a day.

Having used older 20-ton excavators from various brands over the years, KyawSwe has been pleased with the LG690E’s performance and hopes to add further SDLG machines to his equipment fleet in due course.

The LG690E is known for its energy saving performance, reliability, and comfort. With an operating weight of 8,500 kg, the LG690E features a 2.5-litrediesel engine that has low emissions and reduced noise. Its three-stage fuel filter improves efficiency and reliability, and reduces failure rate. Equipped with a Rexroth LUDV hydraulic system, the LG690E has an energy consumption rate more than 5% lower than older models.
