XCMG Crawler Crane Strikes Indonesia, Setting the Highest Tonnage Record in China’s Export

August 26, 2014

Recently, a XGC16000 crane of 1,250 t lifting capacity, the China’s first ever maximum tonnage Crawler Crane, was shipped to Indonesia from XCMG for construction of offshore projects, setting a new tonnage record of domestic Crawler Cranes exported overseas and making XCMG the China’s first 1,000 t Crawler Crane exporter.

By virtue of its high cost performance, high quality and strong technical capacity, the XGC16000 crawler crane exported to Indonesia this time outshines other products of many domestic and foreign manufacturers. After intensively comparing XCMG’s product with other suppliers’ products, the customer concluded that XCMG’s product fully satisfies the lifting requirement for its offshore drilling platform equipment, and is superior to other products of the industry in lifting capacity and other internationally known branded products in economic performance. The successful signing of the order once again proves XCMG’s strength.

Market opportunities for large tonnage crawler cranes

Recent years has witnessed ever-growing market demands for medium/large tonnage crawler cranes in China achieved by continuous advancement of infrastructure constructions, especially large-scale construction projects such as Three Gorges Project, Qinghai-Tibet Railway, West-East Power Transmission and West-East Natural Gas Transmission, as well as the rapid development of nuclear power, petroleum, chemical engineering, wind energy and other fields.

As the medium/large tonnage crawler cranes segment heated up, crawler crane manufacturers in China started to develop medium/large tonnage crawler cranes in succession. Since its successful development of the first 300 t crawler crane in China in 2005, XCMG has made continuous efforts to rewrite the development history of large tonnage crawler cranes through technological innovation, bringing about a rapid rise in the capacity of crawler cranes in our country from 300 t to 1,000 t.

The ever-growing market demands in China for crawler cranes have given higher requests to their performance, quality and reliability, which thus promote intensified product competition among domestic and foreign manufacturers.

Development of large tonnage crawler cranes in China led by XCMG

In 1995, XCMG entered the crawler crane market; in 1998, QUY150, the first 100 t crane with proprietary intellectual property rights, was born in XCMG; in 2003, the crawler crane with the highest tonnage (300 t) in China at that time successfully rolled off the production line, praised as “Best Crane in China”; in 2006, a 450 t crawler crane smoothly rolled off the production line; in 2008, a 650 t crawler crane made its debut at Bauma Show; in 2010, a 1,000 t crawler crane was produced. From the above achievements to the successive launch of the 2,000 t and 4,000 t crawler cranes which have been put to test in practical application, XCMG has been renewing the records of the crane industry and stepped into the medium/large tonnage crane field in a way of leapfrog development, sticking to self-dependent innovation and in-depth research. So far, XCMG has formed 16 product series spanning from 35 t to 1,000 t cranes.

XCMG XGC16000 crawler crane is a high-end product super tonnage crane designed to meet the hoisting requirements in coal chemical, nuclear power, petrochemical, metallurgy and other large-scale projects, so as to actively participate in international competition. With an optimized structure and excellent performance, XGC16000 is designed by advanced means with advanced technologies at home and abroad to provide excellent hoisting performance.

In virtue of a crawler-type chassis and a composite truss jib, XGC16000 presents many advantages such as small ground pressure, ability of driving with load, high hoisting altitude and high hoisting performance. Its tower attachment enables it to get very close to a building for construction and its superlift device with changeable superlift counterweight radius provides ultra-strong hoisting performance and maneuverability.

XGC16000 crawler crane’s hoisting strength revealed in wind power plant

In September 2013, XCMG XGC16000 was introduced to the wind power plant in Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province for hoisting assembly of a 5MW wind Generator, the largest one subjected to hoisting assembly in the past two years. As onshore 5MW wind Generators were in a testing stage, this wind Generator for hoisting assembly was one of those few prototypes. In spite of potential difficulty and risks, the customer determinedly chose XGC16000 crawler crane, showing their firm trust in XCMG products.

XCMG XGC16000 employs a superlift tower jib, 78-meter main jib and 42-meter tower jib, with 180 t superlift counterweight and 24-meter counterweight radius. Even with a load of up to 90% and engaged in luffing, slewing and walking, it still installed the engine room in place precisely and effectively.

Successful hoisting assembly of the 5MW wind generator marked that XCMG 1000T crawler cranes entered into the hoisting assembly segment of large-scale wind generators following segments of petrochemical, coal chemical, ocean engineering and large gymnasium construction, thus further broadening the operation range of 1,000 t products, which was of great importance to its market expansion.

XCMG XGC16000 crane spreading its wings in wind power plant

In December 2013, XGC16000 once again took on the responsibility of hoisting assembly of a 5MW wind generator in Inner Mongolia Wind Power Plant after its operation in Hebei. XGC16000 made a great coup in hoisting of these 5MW wind generators from two different manufacturers, further proving the abundant strength of XCMG cranes.

XCMG brand, services and technologies opening international market

By virtue of its high cost performance, high quality and strong technical capacity, the XGC16000 crawler crane exported to Southeast Asia this time outshines other products of many domestic and foreign manufacturers.

The excellent performance of XCMG’s medium/low tonnage crawler cranes in Southeast Asian market gives customers in-depth impression of quality, reliability and advancement of XCMG products. The successful export of XGC16000 crawler crane marks a further step of XCMG to the international market with its brand, services and technologies.

After 20 years of trials and hardships, XCMG crawler crane has developed from a budding explorer into an industry frontrunner! Only those XCMG workers who have experienced this journey can understand how arduous it is! This record-breaking successful export of the XGC16000 1,000 t crawler crane is not only the best proof of the construction crane industry in China going global but a new turning point for China’s hoisting industry to infiltrate into international high-end markets and win recognition from international communities. It lays a solid foundation for XCMG to deeply integrate enterprise demands and demands of different costumers, countries and regions in the future, and is also a solid step of XCMG people in the long history of the world’s crawler cranes.
