XCMG 1250t Crawler Crane Wins over the Customer from afar and Breaks Domestic Record in Export of Heavy-duty Crawler Crane

On August 8, XCMG XGC16000 Crawler Crane, a “Roc” from China, lifted its boom slowly at the picturesque Batam of Indonesia, implying that the equipment assembling has been totally completed and the systematic equipment commissioning has kicked off. Meanwhile, the golden lifting boom reached into the sky and took on a spectacular scene. Set against the azure sky and blue water, such a 1250t iron giant was extremely eye-catching.
As the first domestically-manufactured 1250t Crawler Crane that is exported abroad, XCMG XGC16000 is set to be put into construction of Indonesia-based ocean engineering. That represents another glory in XCMG hoisting machinery sector after XCMG successfully sold and put into use its 4000t Crawler Crane, the world largest crane, and also symbolizes the seeming advent of the pattern in which the “Made in China” cranes predominate the world.
Succeed by Making Active Preparations
In the wake of the Spring Festival of 2014, overseas construction machinery sector released a piece of exciting news, saying that a company in SE Asia plans to purchase a 1250t crawler crane, which will be used in its offshore drilling platform project.
In recent years, domestically manufactured construction machinery overwhelmed the global market, but it is the first time for industry practitioners to hear the news of purchase for domestically manufactured 1250t (ultra heavy-load) crawler crane.
The news aroused much attention from XCMG Group, and Xuzhou Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. and XCMG Import & Export jointly set up a special team. In view of the company’s hoisting demands in its Indonesia-based offshore drilling platform project, Xuzhou Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. recommended the company the XGC16000 crawler crane, which had been used in domestic projects several times. In face of such a crawler crane in need of enormous investment, the customer held an exceedingly prudential attitude. To ensure the product’s safety and reliability, the customer appointed commissioners to earnestly investigate and study Chinese construction machinery vendors, and then singled out three most competitive crawler crane vendors in China. Also, it designated a technical survey team to carry out on-spot survey and appraisal.
At the survey site, super-lift tower jib working condition was adopted for XCMG XGC16000 crawler crane: main boom of 90 meters plus tower jib of 90 meters; to lift a 100t heavy object to the height of 175metres, which greatly surpassed the customer’s construction requirements. During the lifting process, XGC16000 completed the entire lifting operations made up of hooking and boom raising etc. within only two hours, during which each of its operations was easy, smooth, high-efficiency, and steady, fully exemplifying XCMG crawler crane’s super strong lifting performance and high flexibility.
Witnessing the process in which XCMG crawler crane lifted high the heavy object aloft in a secure and smooth manner, head of the Indonesia Technical Survey Team said gladly: “XCMG is our first choice!”

However, it was barely the beginning of the battle. When both sides negotiated about final matters of the export order, another crawler crane vendor of China refused to admit being loser, and brought forth a tempting business term, saying that it will not only loosen the installment policy, but also take the initiative to reduce the total price, making its total price several millions of yuan lower than XCMG’s!
In face of this challenge, XCMG did not take further business steps, but decided to focus on value creation for customers. XCMG special team proactively got in touch with customers to devise the hoisting scheme. Since the project is of huge size, engineers dared not get slack, and they organized countless researches and discussions to consummate the scheme. By referring to XCMG crawler crane’s abundant construction experience in domestic and overseas significant projects, the special team eventually mapped out a perfect hoisting scheme for the offshore drilling platform project the XGC16000 crawler crane would serve, which received high praise from the customer.
Perfect hoisting scheme is an open sesame, and abundant construction experience is a magic weapon leading to success. Xuzhou Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. showed the customer classic construction cases partook in by above 1000t XCMG crawler cranes, making the customer get astonished and surprised by XCMG crawler crane’s extensive application in a lot of sectors like petrochemical, chemical engineering, and wind power etc. While seeing that XCMG 1250t crawler crane is working together with international brands like DEMAG at the Shandong-based Penglai Ocean Jacket Hoisting Project, the customer stood, saying with an excited tone: “That’s it! We need XCMG, and we believe in XCMG!”

“Made in China” Elates Overseas Chinese
After signing the contract, the customer appointed five operators to receive trainings at XCMG, of which, Mr. Wang, an experienced worker from Shandong Province of China, had operated the crane products abroad for more than 10 years, but he ever drove only one domestically manufactured crane. At that time, domestically manufactured cranes lagged far behind overseas sophisticated products, and “Made in China” product’s unsteady performance left a deep mark on Mr. Wang’s impression. During his trainings in China, Mr. Wang witnessed earthshaking changes in China’s construction machinery industry. Particularly, he got a sense of pride while learning that the XCMG had produced the 4000t crawler crane, the world first crane. Mr. Wang said with an emotional tone: “Thanks for the motherland. Today, China is becoming stronger and stronger and able to produce more advanced high-end products as compared to other countries. Due to this, we will be more confident while working abroad.”
Indeed, as the leader in domestic crawler crane sector, XCMG always shoulders the mission of rejuvenating the country by industry. In 1998, XCMG launched into the market the domestic first proprietary QUY150 (above 100t).
