Chairman Wang Min required XCMG to mobilize the nearest rescue forces quickly to assist the earthquake relief work in all-out efforts, set up the earthquake relief headquarter in Zhaotong of XCMG under Vice President Sun Jianzhong, and establish a rescue team with local equipment and equipment of local clients and agents to assist the disaster-stricken area from Kunming as soon as possible.
Xu Nan, XCMG rescue frontline commander and deputy general manager of the Marketing Company of XCMG Earthmoving Machinery Business Division, said in an interview that rescue equipment sent by XCMG on the morning of August 4, including excavators, loaders, and cranes, had successfully entered Ludian earthquake-stricken area from Zhaotong, and they had been embarking on the construction work. He and other rescue team members like Bian Yong, director of XCMG Cranes Business Division’s Office in Yunnan had arrived at Ludian Longtoushan Township, the epicenter of Zhaotong. A 50t loader had been used in Longtoushan Township’s rescue work according to instructions of the Command Department. However, due to traffic inconvenience resulting from road and bridge landslide, 5 pieces of equipment were kept on standby 6 kilometers away from Longtoushan Township waiting to devote to the rescue work as soon as the traffic condition turned good.
Bian Yong said, though the road to the disaster-stricken area is muddy, construction machinery equipment kept on standby in the rain. The red banner “Cold Earthquake, Warm XCMG” seemed to be brighter. The road to the disaster-stricken area only allowed disaster relief Vehicles, while large-scale Vehicles and civilian Vehicles were not permitted to drive in. While seeing the XCMG rescue fleet, police officers in charge of the traffic order expressed their admiration for XCMG’s responsibility for society. And they relieved traffic congestion as quick as possible to enable XCMG equipment to pass through the road quickly.
