The Italian manufacturer Trime has presented a new lighting tower aimed at the mining industry.
The Trime X-Mine Monster, available worldwide, is a light tower attached to a large tracked undercarriage, giving it stability on all terrains.
The unit has a dynamic levelling system that automatically tilts the mast when it is on a slope, so that the tower remains vertical and the lamps stable.
Thirty 150-watt, multi-directional, adjustable, energy-saving LED lamps are mounted on a 10-metre hydraulic folding mast, with a rotation of 240˚. As a result, the X-Mine Monster can illuminate an area of up to 24,500 m2.
The new lighting tower was said to be easy to operate and easy to manoeuvre.
Controlled remotely via a Wi-Fi joystick console, it has a maximum driving speed of 2.2 km/h.
The unit has a 150-litre fuel tank that allows it to run continuously for 94 hours. An auxiliary power of 9kVA at 48V DC is also available.
Tailor-made work
Trime designed and manufactured the X-Mine Monster in response to a request from an Australian open pit mining conTractor working around the clock.
The conTractor discovered that traditional wheeled lighting towers were unstable and provided insufficient lighting. They were also proving difficult to transport around the site.
Therefore, the X-Mine Monster was created to provide lighting in areas that are difficult to access with traditional vertical lighting towers, and to illuminate a work area above and below an excavator's digging arm.
"We always have a very open mind when we receive special requests for custom machinery," said Matteo Tagliani, Sales Director, Trime. "We will always listen carefully to individual requests and work hard to achieve a satisfactory result for both parties," he concluded.
