China-laos railway power supply project begins

Vientiane, Laos (xinhua) -- the opening ceremony of the china-laos railway power supply project has been held in vientiane, the capital of Laos.

The construction site of the china-laos railway power supply project involves 4 provinces and 1 city in northern Laos along the china-laos railway. The project will build a new 268km 115kv power transmission line, expand 11 outlet intervals, and connect 10 traction substations of the china-laos railway to the Lao national grid.

The china-laos railway power supply project is a key project to ensure the scheduled opening of the china-laos railway and promote infrastructure connectivity between the two countries. China southern power grid said the project will be ready for power supply by the end of March 2021, ensuring the china-laos railway will be open to traffic as scheduled in December 2021.

The china-laos railway stretches 414 kilometers from the lao-china border port of boten in the north to vientiane, the capital of Laos, in the south. The railway adopts Chinese management standards and technical standards and is designed to run at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour.
