Shantui's SD90-5 Wins Industry Award

On March 29, at the China Construction Machinery Industry Top 50 Forum held in Beijing, Shantui's SD90-5 won the industry's "Technological Innovation Gold Award." The award was given in recognition of Shantui's efforts to advance the domestic development of Bulldozer products and technology in China, as exemplified by the SD90-5. The award also recognizes the ancillary results of the development of the SD90-5: increasing the talent level of R&D personnel nationwide, increased competitiveness of Chinese products, and simultaneous development of related industries. The SD90-5 attempts to break the reliance on imported technology, by using entirely in-house developed parts and design. At over 900 horsepower and 105 tons, it is currently the second largest Bulldozer in the world.  

Held since 2006, the China Construction Machinery Industry Top 50 Forum is an annual awards ceremony hosted by China's Ministry of Industry, China Machinery Industry Federation, and the China Construction Machinery Industry Association. The ceremony is attended by representatives of China's top construction machinery manufacturers, construction firms, research institutions, university officials,and over 200 members of the media. The purpose of the forum is to recognize outstanding products produced by Chinese construction machinery firms over the previous year. Awards are organized into various categories such as quality, technological innovation, and best seller.
